Robot Vacuum vs. Regular Vacuum

Imagine a Saturday morning on the couch with your coffee cup in hand. You put your feet up to let the robot vacuum pass below as it heads under the couch. The handy little gadget sucks up dust bunnies and wayward popcorn kernels from yesterday’s movie night and then heads to the kitchen. There it cleans up the rice spilled from the evening’s dinner and heads to the docking station, where it begins charging.

The appeal of robot vacuums isn’t surprising, considering the convenience they offer. In 2016 annual sales were already at $1.5 billion and are not expected to slow down. Future Market Insights predicts that by 2021 this figure will reach $2.5 billion. Clearly, robot vacuums are gaining popularity. But how do they compare to traditional vacuums?

Robot Vacuums

Being able to clean the floor without actually having to lift a finger is a pretty big convenience and something that you won’t get from a traditional vacuum. Most robot vacuums can be programmed to clean at specified times from your smartphone, letting you come home to a clean floor.

For example, you can set the Roborock S5 to a thoroughness you prefer and to a schedule that fits your needs. This helps control dust, dirt, and allergens that pollute indoor air and frequently cause issues for allergy and asthma sufferers.

Robot vacuums are even more suitable for mixed flooring. They are gentle on the hardwood, thorough on the carpet, and breeze over the tile. The low profile and autonomous behavior allow Roborock S5 to reach areas where traditional vacuums have trouble.

Regular Vacuums

While traditional vacuums don’t offer the convenience of cleaning without human effort, having a pilot at the helm does offer some advantages. For one, you’re not likely to suck up a sock or push the cat dish around the room, spilling the contents throughout your home.

Regular vacuums

Traditional vacuums generally offer more power, too, which translates into more suction. While robot vacuums can easily handle low-pile area rugs and runners, traditional vacuums are better suited for homes with wall-to-wall plush carpeting and much larger areas. They are also more suitable for ground in dirt that has been sitting around for a while.

When A Robot Vacuum Is Best

Robot vacuums can’t completely replace their traditional counterparts, but they do have certain important strengths. Their ability to clean automatically on schedule, means having a home that is cleaner and more hygienic. With dirt being sucked up regularly, germs and allergens never have the opportunity to make people sick.

These machines are able to go places that regular vacuums can’t reach. They can fit underneath furniture and clean in corners which are blocked off to traditional vacuums. They are dust bunny eradicators.

Robot vacuums, such as Roborock S5, are brilliant at keeping dust levels down and floors cleaner, since they follow a learned pattern in the home. With LDS technology this particular machine can map a room and decide on a most efficient and effective route. Starting with the perimeter, and then cleaning the inner area in a z-shaped pattern, the Roborock S5 leaves no dust or dirt behind.

These handy gadgets are for busy people who enjoy a clean home even when they don’t have the time to do the work themselves. Plus they’re kind of fun to watch!
